    Adweek Reports:

    • Internet radio upstart Pandora has streamed 3.3 million songs to iPhone users since the launch of its new mobile application, making it the third most popular such app for the red-hot device — the newest version of which Apple released on July 11.
    • Pandora has sold over 1 million units as of July 14
    • As of July 14, company has registered over 180,000 new stations
    • More than 200,000 stations have been created on the software
    • Most listeners are engaged for more than an hour a day.

    According to a ChangeWave.com survey of 3,567 smart-phone consumers:

    • Market leader, Research in Motion (RIM), maker of the Blackberry, remains on top with 42% of sales 
    • Palm has sunk to 14%, a record low
    • Apple iPhone has 11% of the market 
    • 56% of respondents who plan to purchase a smart phone in the next 90 days say they will purchase an Iphone. 
    • 78% of current iPhone owners are ìVery Satisfiedî with their product
    • 54% of Blackberry owners say they are Very Satisfied
    • 29% of Palm owners are ìVery Satisfiedî

    iPhone/iPod touch App Store Breakdown

    According to Medialets:

    802 total Apps in the iTunes App store

    • 22.7% of all Apps are free
    • 23.8% are selling for .99
    • 9.7% are selling for $1.99
    • 5.6% are over the $9.99 mark
    Category Breakdown:
    • Majority of apps are games and entertainment (49% of all apps)
    • Travel apps seem to be most concentrated on the $9.99 mark

    According to Shaw Wu of American Technology Research: 

    • 14.6 million new iPhones will be shipped by the end of 2008 and 31.6 million will be distributed by the end of 2009
    • Worldwide iPhone sales will experience rapid growth in the second half of 2008 due to a wider product portfolio, more carrier relationships, native exchange support, and more applications

    iPhone Production Costs Show Significant Margins

    • Apple cut more than $50 from manufacturing costs per unit since the first-generation phone made its debut last year
    • Profit margins are about 55 percent.
    • Apple spent $174.33 for initial production costs for the 8GB model.
